The Town of East Hampton is a Civil Township located on a peninsula in the County of Suffolk on Eastern Long Island within the State of New York; Consisting of approximately of 70 square miles and stretches approximately 25 miles from Montauk Point in the east to Wainscott to the west. It is about 6 miles wide at the widest and 1 mile wide at its narrowest point. It includes the villages of Amagansett, Springs, East Hampton and Wainscott as well as part of the incorporated Village of Sag Harbor. East Hampton Town also has jurisdiction over Gardiners Island, which is one of the largest privately owned islands in the United States.
