How Do Professional Painters Paint So Fast with Perfect Edges in Shelter Island, NY?

Painting a room can give it an instant face lift. It can make an old, tired and boring room look modern, vibrant and charming.  But, like many do it yourself projects, it takes time.  How do you complete an immaculate, but quick paced paint job? L.W. Winslow Painting, Inc. would like to share a few tips that can help expedite the project.

How Can I Paint a Room Faster & Neater Like a Professional?

                1.  Clean Walls and Ceiling.  Many times the dust and cobwebs get overlooked when painting commences.  Be sure to take the time to feather dust the surface layer of cob webs and dust.  After you have done so, take a dampened cloth and wipe away any stubborn dust that is clinging.  If you should notice any spots or grease stains, make a solution of warm water and a few drops of liquid dish soap and clean the blemishes.  Be sure to rinse away the soapy film with cool water and a sponge.  Fill holes with putty, and ensure they are scraped and sanded down evenly with the wall surface, and wipe away dust.

                2.  Tape Paint Preparation. To ensure minimal mistakes are made, tape off the base boards, window and door frames, and anything else you want to better protect from the new paint. If the ceiling is a different color than the walls, tape off the walls, and trim work on the ceiling. Brush out approximately 2 1/2 inches, and alternate rolling the paint and trim work to prevent a hard line. Paint the width as opposed to the length of the ceiling. Allow the ceiling to dry before tackling the walls.

                3.  Paint Trim Work.  Starting in preferred corner, use your trim brush and paint about 2 1/2 inches out following the corners, from the base board up, and if the ceiling is going to be a different color, trim out from the ceiling downward.  Be sure to use a roller as you got to not create any hard lines of trim work from rolling paint. Be sure to repeat trim and rolling paint around all the edges from windows, corners, doors and base boards.

                4.  Paint Walls. Paint the remaining walls in “W” patterns and then fill in without lifting the roller for top efficiency.  Complete the walls and allow to dry.  Apply a second coat in a similar fashion.
