If you are ready to paint the interior of your home then you need to know about several way to prepare for the job. Making the decision to paint is the first thing you need to do followed by choosing a color that will go well with the décor of your home. Most people move into the house they buy and just go with what is on the wall. At some point you will probably decide that it needs to be freshened up and paint is a great way to freshen the entire room. Doing some prep work is a good way to ensure that the job goes over smoothly and without any hiccups. L.W. Winslow Painting, Inc. has a few ways that you can get ready.
Do You Have to Empty a Room to Paint It?
One of the first things that you need to do to get the walls ready for paint is to clear the room out. If you are only doing a single room you can probably take the furniture and art and move it to another room in the house. If you are doing multiple rooms or you don’t have the ability to move the single room’s items out you can just make some piles in the center of the room. If you have a lot of large items to move you may want to move them into a few smaller piles so that you can get around the stack easier. This will clear up the wall space and leave them ready to paint.
Do I Need to Repair Walls Before Painting?
You may not think that you have repairs to make in the drywall but no matter how careful you are there will be damage in the walls. If you have any pictures of art that is hung on the wall then you have damage to the drywall. You may not even notice that there is damage until after you have moved the large pieces of furniture. Couches and beds that are constantly being bumped into can cause some damage to the wall they are up against. This is a prep area that you don’t want to skimp on. The repairs if done badly will show up really well when you add the new paint color to the wall. You want the repair to blend into the texture of the rest of the wall as seamlessly as possible.
