Have you ever caught yourself starring at your house trying to figure out what look you want for your home? When it comes time to paint your house you have to put a lot of thought into it. There are some factors that you need to consider and figure out before you paint your house. L.W. Winslow Painting, Inc wants to help you with some of the things you need to consider before you start painting your house.
HOA Painting Rules
If you live in an HOA you need to ask a few questions to the HOA and find out if they have any restrictions. Many HOA’s will only allow certain colors that you can put on your house. They may also require a particular quality of paint. You need to find out these answers before you start the painting process. It is not fun to paint your house the colors that you want, just to find out that you can’t have those colors or that quality of paint on your house.
Can Exterior Painting Be Done in Hot or Cold Weather?
When you are ready to paint you need to consider the weather and pick the best day. It is best not to paint in extreme heat or cold. You want to make sure the temperature is a good temperature between 60 degrees and 85 degrees. If it is going to rain or if there is going to be a lot of humidity in the forecast those are not the best days to paint your house. You want the day to be a nice sunny day
Boxing Paint Technique
When it comes to painting, not all paint is the same. Even buckets of the same color paint may have slight variations. This can especially happen if you purchased the cans on different dates or from different stores. The best way to solve this problem is to mix your paint cans together to ensure you get the color you are wanting with each paint can.
Prep Landscape for Painting
Right before the painting starts you will want to do some preparation for your yard. Cover any flowerbeds, bushes, and garden décor with drop cloths or tarps. If you cover them, then you won’t turn your flowers the same color as your house. You will want to remove any garden hoses, patio furniture and outdoor grills, and anything else that is close to the house. You will want to do this for the same reason as the garden. Paint can drip on your stuff. You will also want to move your stuff away from the house so it will make it easier while painting. The painting will also go faster because they don’t have to move your items or go around it.
