Playroom Paint Color & Decorating Ideas in North Haven, NY; Gender Neutral, Boys & Girls

The playroom is the designated kids’ area, but that doesn’t mean you cannot ensure it is stylish while being an ideal place for your children. When it comes to the playroom, many people have a tendency to leave the walls white and avoid intricate work.  But your kids’ playroom can be a stimulating place for the young and mature alike.   Today, we at L.W. Winslow Painting, Inc would like to offer tips for your playroom.

Gender Neutral Paint Colors & Other Playroom Painting Ideas

Chalkboard Paint.   Kids love chalk, and many see a blank wall as a blank canvas.  Give them the opportunity to be creative without damaging your home. Paint the accent walls or the bottom half with chalkboard paint.  They have the reigns to write, draw and color their own creative masterpieces and the wall easily wipes clean, keeping them busy day in and day out without getting in trouble. Add white wainscoting with a chair rail along the lower third of the wall to separate the space. The white wainscoting with a chair rail can give a clean appearance to the usually chaotic room and serve as a place to store your chalk and erasers.  Chalkboard paint is available in any color, so you do not have to commit to black walls.

Bright Paint Colors:   To inspire imagination, bright colors for the walls or accessories can help. Neutral whites and a parachute ceiling might be the perfect touch.  A beloved playtime activity for decades is playing under the parachute and now they can hide and play beneath all day long. A painted parachute on the ceiling of a playroom is enjoyable and adds enough color without over-saturating it.  Simply find the center point on the ceiling and paint patterns of blue, red, green and yellow, or your preferred colored, triangles starting from the middle, and work your way all the way around.  In a square room with a raised ceiling, it makes the application particularly stunning.

For Girls:   If your playroom serves just girls, glittering walls make an impression for the of girls.  An accent wall of painted glitter can offer some princess inspired play. With a paint of your choosing, while the wall is still wet, gently toss thick, crafting glitter from top to bottom and let dry.  If you are just looking to just dust the paint in glitter, you can blow it on handfuls at a time or use a fan.

For Boys:  A creative option for parents who want to create a dream room for exclusive boys is a racetrack room.   Most boys are partial, at least for a phase, to fast cars. A painted racetrack looping and curving up and down the wall might be the perfect option for your racer. An intricate accent wall or make a track which bends around the entire room are a few options, allowing your little boys to do laps for hours.

Mural Painting:  You can never go wrong with murals, they can be gender neutral and blend into the rest of your home beautifully.
